We want to thank everyone who joined us for our observation of the UN International Day of Peace on Sunday, September 20, in Burnside Park in downtown Providence. It was a glorious celebration on an amazing fall day. Our singers, dancers and musicians – representing the many nationalities and ethnic groups of Rhode Island – charmed and inspired us with their performances. We were also blessed to have a wonderful group of interfaith clergy to lead our silent Walking Meditation and prayers for peace. Our talented City Councilman and Master of Ceremonies Cliff Wood closed the event with his mellow sax playing – the perfect ending to an important day.
We also want to thank all of the exhibitors and activity participants. And very special thanks to our many volunteers, without whom we could not create such an event. Their enthusiasm, hard work and wonderful smiles carried the day.
We’ll be posting pictures and more details in the near future. In the meantime, we wanted to express our gratitude for being able to host such a marvelous event – one of thousands taking place all over the globe. We are grateful that this littlest state in the Union has such a big heart.
